Ravindra Jadeja might be ‘the next Wasim Akram’, what a joke

It was very awkward for me when I saw a picture of Ravindra Jadeja on a magazine cover with ‘The next Wasim Akram?’ written on top of it. Indian Bowling coach, Joe Dawes gave a statement after losing the second Test match against South Africa that he may try to make Jadeja the new Wasim Akram.

His statement implicated that Jadeja should practice some seam bowling as previously done by Sourav Ganguly or Sachin Tendulkar.
The first thing that disturbed me was how a spinner can be compared to one of the greatest pace bowlers the international cricket has ever seen. If anything, I personally think Sanath Jayasuria would have been a better choice as he was a left arm slow bowler and a master blaster. However, Jaya’s class is unmatchable when it comes to his batting talent.
The second thing that popped up in my mind was the numerous times Indians have choked their talented cricketers by comparing them with Pakistani greats. Irfan Pathan is a prime example who had some real pace bowling talent, but he was forced by his coaches to make his action identical to Akram, which ended up neutralising his natural talent.
To add to the cause, the Indian team insists on putting all 11 of their players behind the bat and force Pathan to be an all-rounder, which is a big loss on their behalf.
Coming back to Jadeja and his coach’s statement, even if we ignore the fact that a spinner is being compared to a pacer and only focus on their performance, he is being compared to the legend on the basis of his wicket taking ability in the away matches. Jadeja has only played one Test match against the Proteas in their backyard and got six wickets for 154 runs. As Jadeja has not played much of the long format cricket outside India, his record cannot be compared to Akram’s record of 255 wickets in 62 matches with an average of 24.61.
Let’s take a look at the performances of the most played format in international cricket; One Day Internationals (ODIs). Jadeja has played 36 away matches and has hunt down 28 batsmen at an average of 48.53. Whereas, the Sultan of Swing has taken part in 121 away matches and has taken 168 wickets at an average of 23.89. Akram has never bowled in a T20 format, so it is irrelevant to compare the records. However, if he had played, he must have better figures than Jadeja for sure.
The only way Akram and Jadeja can stand side by side is if you highly overrate Jadeja as the greatest slow left arm bowler of all time. I have no doubt that many Jadeja fans might believe that he is the best left arm orthodox spinner of this era or probably in history, but I rate Abdul Razzak of Bangladesh higher than him and even young Raza Hasan of Pakistan even though he hasn’t played much international cricket. Hasan is immensely talented and soon he will prove it to the world.
On the other hand, there is absolutely no doubt that Akram is the best left arm pacer or left bowler that has ever appeared on the field. Seeing the comparison above, I reckon Jadeja has a long way to go to even have his name mentioned alongside the Sultan of Swing.
Dawes’s statement is probably one of the most overrated and perhaps one of the most absurd statements that the cricketing world has ever heard. There is indeed no comparison between the two. Such statements usually end up destroying players and their talent rather than building it.

Target more than 200? No problem

The very first successful 200-plus chase came as early as the ninth game of the first season. Deccan Chargers were the 2008 version of the current Royal Challengers Bangalore - filled with boundary-clearing stars. Adam Gilchrist, Herschelle Gibbs, Andrew Symonds, Shahid Afridi and an up-and-coming Rohit Sharma were supposed to make their batting line-up the gold standard in the IPL. They made a poor start to the campaign, losing their first two games, but the batting machinery seemed to be getting in gear when Andrew Symonds bludgeoned a century in the third and helped Chargers rack up 214. Symonds' day was soured, however, when Shane Warne conjured a victory for the unfancied Rajasthan Royals by slamming 16 of the 19 runs in the final over, bowled by Symonds.
Kolkata Knight Riders v Kings XI Punjab, 2010
Target: 201
After losing seven of their first eight matches, Kings XI Punjab desperately needed a lift. That didn't look likely after Chris Gayle waylaid their bowling with a 42-ball 88, especially as they were missing one of their most consistent performers, Shaun Marsh, due to injury. That injury, though, gave Mahela Jayawardene a chance to open the innings and he underlined how effective he can be in Twenty20s with a 59-ball 110. In a season in which they finished dead last, the Jayawardene century was one of the few things to cheer the Kings XI fans.
Royal Challengers Bangalore v Kings XI Punjab, 2010
Target: 204
"Two years ago, there was a lot of criticism from people who said that I couldn't play it [Twenty20]," Jacques Kallis said after a Man-of-the-Match performance that showed he could thrive in the format. Faced with a target of 204, Royal Challengers didn't even require the services of the man who was then the Bangalore crowd's favourite, Ross Taylor. Kallis was there from start to finish as he powered his way to a 55-ball 89, which included five sixes. Kallis was assisted by local boys Robin Uthappa, whose quickfire half-century helped end the chase with more than an over to spare, and Manish Pandey.
Chennai Super Kings v Royal Challengers Bangalore, 2012
Target: 206
In an astounding heist that did not involve an MS Dhoni six in the final over, Chennai Super Kings shocked Royal Challengers Bangalore by taking 45 off the last 12 balls to register the fourth 200-plus chase in IPL history. Faf du Plessis kept Super Kings in the hunt with 71, but the match turned in one of the IPL's most famous overs as Albie Morkel took Virat Kolhi apart with tennis-like scoring of 4, 6, 4, 6, 2, 6 in the penultimate over. "Games like this you are not supposed to win, we were down and out and should not have won," du Plessis said. "We actually said this is going to be the turning point, so it gives us massive confidence." In hindsight, Royal Challengers could look at this match as the reason for missing out on a playoffs spot as they finished fifth with equal points as Super Kings, but had a lower net run-rate.
Chennai Super Kings v Kings XI Punjab, 2014
Target: 206
The new-look, fearless Kings XI Punjab batting line-up was on show as they shot down Chennai Super Kings' score of 205 with relative ease in Abu Dhabi. Glenn Maxwell, who was bought by Kings XI for Rs 6 crores ($1m), displayed 'next-generation' batting with a spectacular array of shots - reverse-sweeps, slog-sweeps and some textbook drives - in his 43-ball 95. Although Super Kings' new opening combination of Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Smith made an excellent start to the season, putting on a stand of 123, the bowling was left perplexed by the hitting from Maxwell and David Miller.

Corey Anderson may have broken Afridi’s record, but he can’t break our spirits!

On October 4, 1996, a record was made by one of our very own. Shahid Khan Afridi, who started his career in cricket 17 years ago, made the fastest century record in his second ODI against Sri Lanka. He scored 102 of 37 balls which was the fastest century in an ODI. Afridi has an aggressive batting style as he loves hitting his famous sixes on every ball and has smashed more than 400 sixes in all formats of the game.

Now, after 17 years, this record was recently broken by New Zealand’s all-rounder Corey Anderson against the West Indies in just 36 balls. I’m sure we were all shocked because the people of Pakistan love Afridi, regardless of when we curse him when he doesn’t bring his best foot forward; we are deeply proud of his record-breaking achievement.

Even though Afridi admitted the fact that his record was broken by Anderson and praised him, he expected his record to be broken by someone like Chris Gayle or David Warner; considering their reputation for smashing balls out of the park. He further added that even though he had never heard of the man who broke his record, he believes that someone from the Pakistan cricket team will bring the title back home.
People from all over Pakistan tweeted and shared their love for Boom Boom and believe that Afridi will be the one to win back the title. Afridi never loses hope and fights till the end because he plays from his heart.
I can proudly say that I am Afridi’s biggest fan, on and off the field. I refuse to watch a match in which Afridi isn’t on the field simply because he is a man with a champion’s heart and experience. Some might disagree but Afridi is a good bowler. His aggressive bowling technique picks wickets in early spells and has ended up saving our team many times.
In school, we used to have essay writing competitions and when the topic I received was ‘My favourite personality’ I knew exactly who I was going to write about. Many of the other students wrote on great personalities like Jinnah, Allama Iqbal, Imran Khan, Benazir and the likes, I believed (and still do) that Shahid Afridi was no less a hero than those great legends.

Pakistan Cricket: Where is the Talent?

The poor show of Pakistani batsmen in Champions Trophy has raised some serious questions about the so-called talent, as we always claim to have, in Pakistan.
Besides Nasir Jamshed and skipper Misbah ul Haq, it seems Pakistan was served by the worst ever batting which was badly exposed in conditions unsuitable for them.
Imran Farhat, Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal were the other batsmen on which Pakistan’s campaign was relying and the trio miserably failed to perform. In fact, I really don’t remember the last time when they did win a match for the country.
It wasn’t actually surprising to see batsmen struggling in conditions outside Asia but it was, indeed, frustrating to see them surrendering like school children and throwing away wickets.
Even Misbah ul Haq couldn’t resist his frustration on the failure of Pakistani batsmen.
“You definitely need to think about this after the tournament once the series is over. But I think at the moment, nobody is justifying their places in the team and nobody is getting runs for Pakistan,” Misbah said following Pakistan’s defeat to South Africa.
With all three in their 30s, and seems-the-only man in crisis Misbah ul Haq is inching towards 40, there is a serious question about future of Pakistan’s batting line.
Are we lacking talent at home? “No” will be the answer if the question was put to the people sitting in power corridors of Pakistan Cricket Board.
As PCB and selectors have always claimed that Pakistan has got enough talent, one would ask where is that talent hiding? Why are they not picked for Pakistan Cricket team? When are we going to get rid of the old horses?
If players like Hammad Azam, Sharjeel Khan, Muhammad Rizwan, Ahmed Shahzad, Akbar ur Rehman, Sohaib Maqsood are not good enough to be selected in the team, and the same tried-and-tested players are considered then, unfortunately, we are heading nowhere.
With no international Cricket at home and not enough tours for Under 19 and “A” Cricket team, Domestic Cricket is the only platform to judge a player’s talent. Although there are serious questions about the level of competition there, but yet, it is the only available parameter.

MS Dhoni The most successful captain among four captains from CSK

IPL now a days is on full hype and people from all over the world watching it as because IPL is an international forum for cricketers from all over the world. Among all the eight teams CSK (Chennai Super Kings) is one of the prominent and best team of the tournament because of its players because CSK has best players from different cricket teams and one of the main thing is that CSK has four captains that are Dwayne Bravo (Captain West Indies Cricket Team), Faf Du Plesis (Captain South Africa Cricket Team, Brendon Macullam ( Captain NewZeland cricket team) and the most important man MS Dhoni ( Captain Indian cricket team).

Yesterday in an interview asked by Faf Du Plesis that Is there any dispute among captains he replied that no dispute at all we all have confidence in MS Dhoni. And the number of trophies he won are World Cup 2011 , T20 World Cup 200 and Champions Trophy 2012.

Dhoni commonly known as Mahi for his intelligent captaincy and the success he adds to Indian Cricket history. Also the cool and decent attitude. Personally he is a good man by nature.

Don't cheer for Pakistan's win when you live in India:

Don't cheer for Pakistan's win when you live in India:

Pakistan and India cricket game is always full of interest and worth watching as its less a game of cricket and full of emotions.Public of both the nations leave their works go home early and sit in front of TV's.But we have seen the Indian attitude and their people response against Pakistan win.

Recent match between Pakistan and Indian in Bangladesh Dhaka in the Asia Cup tournament 2014.When Pakistani batsman Shahid Khan Afridi smashed some big sixes and Pakistan win match over India the layer of joy spread among the whole nation.at the mean time in a university in Uttarpardesh India 60 students of the university were enjoying and celebrating victory of Pakistan against India they were expelled from university because there only mistake was that they were celebrating victory of Pakistan.

Regrettably, this is not even the worst incident in the aftermath of the cricket match. In the Baramulla region of occupied Kashmir, a youth was stabbed to death by Indian forces for celebrating Pakistan’s victory. While this aggression will surely be bilaterally decried, this will not likely be the wake-up call to us on what jingoism could lead us to, just as thousands of tragedies before this weren’t.
